IMSI Treatment

IMSI Treatment (Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection)

IMSI Treatment in Hyderabad

Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) is a technique used in IVF treatment to examine and select sperm using a high-magnification digital imaging microscope for microinjection into the egg. With the IMSI technique, our scientists are better able to assess the structure of the sperm and exclude the sperm with suspected abnormalities from being injected into the available eggs.

IMSI had higher pregnancy and birth rates and lower miscarriage rates than those who underwent conventional ICSI particularly for couples who had previously undergone two or more previously unsuccessful cycles.

Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection (IMSI) is a variant of ICSI that uses a more powerful microscope to select sperm. This allows embryologists to examine sperm in more detail (including the nucleus containing sperm genetic material). Some studies suggest that using this technique can result in better sperm selection and higher pregnancy rates and lower miscarriage rates than conventional ICSI Treatment.

The shape of the sperm (morphology) is important for diagnosing male fertility problems and predicting fertilization and pregnancy outcomes - and studies have shown that better sperm selection improves ICSI results.

Why Need IMSI?

For men with high numbers of abnormal spermatozoa and poor IVF results with ICSI, an improved selection tool can improve the chances of fertilization and normal embryo development.

Using high-magnification digital spermatozoa, our doctors can examine individual spermatozoa at 6,000-fold magnification to identify sperm with abnormalities and exclude them from fertilization of the egg. Spermatozoa identified as structurally normal are then used in the fertilization procedure according to the ICSI method.

In comparison, traditional methods of sperm selection involve our doctors who evaluate sperm for visible abnormalities at 400x magnification and select the most normal sperm to be injected into the egg.

Who is recommended for IMSI Treatment?

  • Having very little sperm
  • A high proportion of abnormally formed spermatozoa
  • Evidence of poor results with previous ICSI treatments

  • IMSI Treatment procedure

As we are one of the best Fertility Center in Hyderabad, we recommend IMSI when:
  • Higher levels of DNA fragmentation
  • Increased levels of aneuploidy sperm
  • The quality of the egg seemed to be regular
  • Prompt early abortions
  • In patients with a history of miscarriage
  • More than 90% of variable types in sperm

  • You could have deficient levels of sperm, then a high percentage of irregular shaped cells, The IMSI treatment method describes the in vitro fertilization treatment process of analyzing and selecting sperm using a high magnification digital imaging microscope for microinjection into the egg. This process will help a fertility doctor to evaluate sperm composition and to more naturally exclude the presumed irregular sperm from being inserted into the available eggs.

What are the success rates of IMSI?

Published studies on the use of IMSI have shown that couples who have had an IMSI Treatment have higher pregnancy and birth rates and lower miscarriage rates than those who have undergone conventional ICSI, especially for couples who had already gone through two or more unsuccessful cycles.
